For audio regions, the region anchor is placed at the current playhead position. This command only works for timestamped audio files, such as those recorded in the current project, and imported Broadcast Wave or SDII files. Timestamped files are indicated by a clock symbol in the Project Audio Browser.

The regions are moved to the selected track, keeping their existing time positions. You can access Logic Pro key commands in the Key Commands window. If you initially move a region left or right, movement is limited to the horizontal axis. If you want to move a region from one track to another, release the mouse button, reselect the region, then drag it up or down.

While this preference is selected, you can override it by pressing Shift when moving regions. Move a region In Logic Pro, do any of the following: Drag a region left or right in the Tracks area to move it to a new point in the same track. Drag an audio region up or down in the Tracks area to another audio track. Since channel strip performances can be changed with your MIDI controller keyboard, this also lets you switch performances during playback by simply pressing a key.

Bouncing an audio or instrument track in place renders the track with its effects or instruments, as well as its routing. You can either leave, mute, or delete the original track. You can bounce audio regions on each track, which is useful if you have several audio regions you want to consolidate.

By default, Logic names each audio region according to the track name and the take, which is not very memorable and can get confusing very fast. For example, you can set up an external drive to use Time Machine and also sign up for a cloud-based storage service such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Ultimately, everyone has their own way of working in Logic Pro X depending on what type of music they make. Another thing to note about Track Alternatives is that when you show the inactive lanes you can use all your regular mouse editing tools like the Marquee and Scissors tools to split and copy regions and then use the Pointer tool to move regions between lanes to create different arrangement ideas.

When working on a larger project the thought of experimenting with different arrangement ideas across many tracks can often be intimidating. Screen 2: You can try out different arrangement ideas by creating whole arrangement scenes using Track Alternatives. In the mixer, assign all your tracks to a Group and then open the Group Settings pop-up and tick Track Alternatives.

Load up an existing song that you are working on and open the Channel Mixer. Select all of your tracks and assign them to Group 1.

Within the pop-up dialogue, drop down the Settings section at the bottom by hitting the disclosure triangle. Here, set the options so that only the Track Alternatives option is ticked see Screen 2.

Once again, go to the Track menu and choose Show Track Alternatives. Because all of the tracks are grouped, Logic creates a copy of the playlist on each track, effectively copying the entire arrangement, and assigns this to Track Alternative B. You can now make dramatic changes to your arrangement knowing that you can always return back to Track Alternative A, should you wish to. Experiment with deleting regions, copying regions and muting regions to create a totally different arrangement.

Now when you switch the Track Alternative back to A you should get your original arrangement back to compare with your new arrangement. If you want to create more alternative arrangements simply go back to Track Alternative A and once again use the duplicate option. Screen 3: All the tracks in my arrangement are grouped by Track Alternative.

Here we see the arrangement when all tracks are set to Track Alternative A. Now that you have created a series of different arrangements there may be individual tracks you wish to commit to the timeline, making them a permanent feature, unaffected by switches between Track Alternatives.

Fixing a track in place is as simple as taking it out of the editing group.
